COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS

UVC and Ozone Sanitation

Spending the last 20 years in healthcare has given me a valuable background in infection control and a knowledge base of some specific actions we can take to reduce the spread of bacteria and viruses in our storage units. Due to COVID-19 concerns, Appalachian Storage has invested in technology to reduce the viral and bacterial spread within our storage units.  Because viruses and bacteria are invisible to the human eye, we sanitize each unit between customers to protect your belongings. A UVC light with ozone can kill up to 99.9% of most viruses, airborne bacteria, and mold spores.

·       UVC sterilization destroys the molecular structure of the DNA and RNA of microbial cells, causing the death of growing cells and regenerative cells

·       Ozone sterilization destroys the structure of the microbial membrane with the oxidation of oxygen atoms, which can quickly penetrate into the bacteria, causing the death of bacteria

·       Odors are removed as the bacteria dies

Changes to Appalachian Storage cleaning and sanitation practices for new rentals will take effect on October 29, 2021.
